Occupy

Occupy
Occupy, linger, stand still, defy
Take matters into your own hands
They don't care that you cry
Fall asleep wondering why
you spent all that money on four years
that now you can't get back
so you sit bored at the government's desk
the loans cuff you like shackles
Is this what your ancestors said was freedom?
Maybe no currency is better than having
the bill collectors sending you on a Middle Passage
Seems like you were born into share-cropping
Mom and dad struggled to put you through
to private schools; told you that if you
go to college you could be successful,
and now all you have is shattered dreams
of the youthful you wishing you could have
grown up sooner in a different age
when things were thriving, and bankers
weren't lying to the people who supplied
them with their lowly checks they
work so hard for all week;
bailed out? well the wrong ones got the
hand outs, yet they mock the welfare
because frankly, my dear, they don't care.
So occupy, linger, stand still, defy.
It is our time!
